Post New look and new sail for the Mistral One Design ?
I have found this picture on as site named welovewindsurfing.com.
This is supposed to be a Mistral One Design 2010.

Okay... It's only a photoshop, but the rig is something new.

It's here http://www.welovewindsurfing.com/images/2010%20MOD.jpg in full size.

Anders Bringdal recently told that the new MOD was in production.

It's very interesting to see Mistral marketing this board.

By eye, the board appears to have the same outline as the original mistral one design - I'll presume its the same board. I'd rather see them bring out the Pan-Am as the new MOD, as suggested in another post.

The sail looks too formula-like for all-round sailing (very squat, rather than high aspect ratio) - I wonder if it will have an open leech?

I wonder who the target market is for this board/rig?

If this is the board going into production it looks like a continuation of the last version. This is good for existing owners (racing equlity with new ones and spare parts availability) but indeed a little dissapointing for Pan Am / Equipe 3 wannahavers...

Truth be told, the last OD (and the equipe for that matter) are enduring shapes and they are a hoot to sail in chop and higher wind conditions as compared to wideboards.

Are many people still racing MODs? We have a couple of IMCOs at our club, but they compete in the broader raceboard fleet.

I agree that the MOD is a great board in windy conditions. I've always wanted to go speed sailing with a MOD - I think they've the highest potential maximum (peak) speed of any longboard I've seen.

I am with Yagon. It looks to be the same MOD with a new paint job. Good that they are still making it I guess, but what about the new Pan Am that we saw some pics of a few years ago?

For high winds Bringedal's old board - the Tiga Race desgined by Turckheim - was my favourite. A version of that with higher volume would have been nice...
